Fairy Hobmother and More Books

I told you last week that I had a surprise visit from the Fairy Hobmother and she left me a gift certificate to Amazon.  Well, of course I just had to shop and find something wonderful with such a fabulous gift.  My treasure came in the mail, and I am thrilled.

Look at this wonderful cake plate and cover.  I love the scroll work and the gorgeous rusty color.

Such a beautiful knob on the top of the glass cover.

Very pretty scroll work on the skirt of the cake plate and the base.

Then while out running errands I stopped at the Thrift store again to see if they still had a couple of pillows that I saw and didn't pick up, but no they were gone.  Of course I had to look around and they had more of the books to the series that I got the other day.  She said they lady brought these in after she brought the first ones.  So of course, I had to get them too.  Can't not have the whole series, right?

The gold detail on all of them is so pretty.  I am thrilled to have these added to my collection.  Again they were only $3 each.

So all in all a great day with my new books and my fabulous new cakeplate.

Such a fun piece and what a special gift from the Fairy Hobmother. Has she visited you?

Adding A Little Fall To The Bedroom

Still in the process of sprinkling a little fall decor throughout the house.  The other day I showed you the Master Bathroom here where I added a little green to the decor, so I thought a little green in the Master Bedroom tied it all together.

Our house is really small as I've said a dozen times, however there is just enough room in the master for a small sitting area, and I love this spot.  It's a great place to cuddle up with a book or to watch a movie.  Nothing fancy about the furniture or decor, just a lot of left over things from our larger home.  This is definitely the room where we used what fit and what gave us the storage that we needed.

The walls are a soft beige with a touch of camel undertone, so the browns, greens and oranges all look good in this room.

A mink throw is always wonderful to snuggle underneath when the weather is cool.

This little Ethan Allen settee is one of my favorite pieces.  It's upholstered is a wonderful dark camel colored basketweave fabric.

The nightstands are antique washstands that have a much lighter finish than I like now.  I am debating whether to stain them darker, or to paint them black.  I am leaning toward a darker stain to match the armoire.

A floral arrangement and a few pictures on my side of the bed.

I love this chocolate crewel fabric on the pillow.  The flowers and leaves have all the colors of fall.  The pictures on the headboard wall are all ancestors.  I am thrilled to have them.  Love the old frames and the fabulous way they use to pose.

Another one of our huge paintings from the previous house.  This is the only wall we had that was big enough to hold it.

A plant, candles and a dish to hold hubby's things for his side of the bed.

At the foot of the bed is the armoire.  It holds the tv and also has several drawers for storage.  You also see my jewelry armoire and the door into the master bath.

Just a simple room, but one that is comfortable and I love having some fall colors in here.  It looks happy to me.

Old Books

I am always on the hunt for old books.  They are so hard to find, so I try to get every one that I see that are at a reasonable price.   I found five at a recent trip to the thrift store and they were all just $3.00 each.  I was thrilled.

The Agony and the Ecstasy has a copyright date of 1948, and the Lust For Life was copyrighted in 1934.

The writings of Thoreau has a copyright of 1951.  I love the beautiful gold detail on all three of these books.

Of course I had to rearrange the bookcase a little to showcase these new treasures.

I thought they looked perfect on this shelf.

I love the color and the beautiful gold detail and how much interest it adds to the vignette.

I also found these two wonderful books.   War And Peace and The Brothers Karamazov both have a copyright date of 1949.  They have such gorgeous brown leather and gold embossed covers.

Our house doesn't have an entry foyer, the front door opens right into the living room area, so I have a small chest placed by the entry door window to give the illusion of a small seperation from the living room.

I love this little piece, it has fabulous character with it's beautiful burlwood and it's graceful lines.

A small vignette on top for a little interest.  I thought the books were a nice addition to the candleholder.

Fall in the Bathroom

Slowly I have been adding a little fall all over the house.  The master bathroom got a little tweaking the other day after I cleaned.

Not a really large room, so I like to keep the decor really simple in here.

I love to have an arrangement on the counter and having something tall seems to break up the large mirror and yet you still get the benefit of the reflection of the entire room.  The larger mirror really does help give the appearance and feel of a larger space.

I'm using some green in the master bedroom, so I thought it would be fun to carry a little of the same color into the bathroom.

Green, orange, gold and brown are all my favorite fall colors.  Well, acturally they are my favorite colors anytime.

We just have the necessities on the top of the counter, so I decided to use a silver tray to add a little bling and hold some pretties.  The little bottle was created for me by my dear friend Ck.  So pretty and it looks wonderful with the crystal clock and my favorite perfume.  Then a couple of little candles and a tiny photo and the vignette was complete.

Nice arrangement and it still leaves plenty of counter space for both of us to use for all of our daily grooming routine things.

A view of the tub and shower area.

The water closet area has a painting on one wall and behind the toilet hangs a cabinet that holds extra toilet paper and bathroom necessities.  The top is decorated with a small dress form and a dish holding varigated grasses.

Fun to change things around a bit and to have a little fall decor in the bathroom.

Be sure to check back to see the changes in the master bedroom.  I am finishing the fall decor, just a little more tweaking and I'll be done.

83rd Table Top Tuesday

Welcome to the 83rd Table Top Tuesday.  I have so been enjoying all the wonderful Fall decor that you are all doing.  I can't wait to see more.

I did one small arrangement for one of the end tables in the familyroom.  Still working on some more.

Just a simple fall floral arrangement using sunflowers, mums and gourds.

I used a wood skewer pushed into the bottom of the gourds.  Then cut the skewer off to the length I needed and pushed the stick into the floral foam.  Super easy and fun.

A small DT pumpkin sits on the table beside the arrangement.

I like the autumn colors next to the drapes and the wall color is perfect in a really soft camel color.

Super simple vignette and leaves plenty of room for a favorite book and a snack beside my chair.

Last week we had some of the most amazing NEWCOMERS to Blogland join in.  I just had to introduce them so if you don't know them you can go and say hello and welcome them to Blogland.  I just know you will be totally surprised at how fabulous all these ladies are and their decor is exquisite.  So much inspiration.

Geneva @ My Heart's Song shared this beautiful vignette.  Of course the cloches stole my heart.

Judy @ JBiggs Little Pieces showed us her daughter's family room that Mary Carol Garrity founder of Nells Hill is helping design.  How fun is that.  You really need to go see all the inspiration.

Rae @ 723 Plain and Simple showed us her Craft room.  It is totally unbelievable.  You simply must see this space.

Wanda @ Wandaful Wonders has created such a lovely centerpiece for her dining table.  Beautiful linens also.

Kim @ The Root Cellar gives us all the instructions for making these fabulous pumpkins.  So fun.  Love these.

Robin @ highpoint circle has her home decorated inside and out for Fall.  So many stunning pictures you really must see.  Fabulous inspiration.

Just a little sneak peek at part of the inside.

Leslie @ The Cozy Little Kitchen created the most amazing table display using a huge bowl of apples.  Decorating with food is so wonderful and she has mastered the art.

I hope you will visit all of these new ladies and that you will also visit as many as possible of the links below.  I know you will find so much to inspire you and really get your creative juices flowing.
